Obituary of Raymond Jacobs

Raymond L. Jacobs, 74, widower of Mabry Furches Jacobs, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on April 23, 1937, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Ollie Joe Jacobs and the late Katie Thompkins Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a member of Graves Southern Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Rays Body Shop for 29 years. He was also a member of the United Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club and was a registered breeder for coon hunting hounds. He was an avid outdoorsman and above all he enjoyed coon hunting. Mr. Jacobs was the founder of the Steele Farm Hunting Club.
Survivors include three children, Wade L. Jacobs (Linda) of Swansea, Mark K. Jacobs of Virginia Beach, VA and Melissa R. Jacobs of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandchild, Dax Eaddy of Georgetown; one great grandchild, Luke Eady of Georgetown; three sisters, Jacqueline Ackerman of Greenville, Dorothy Small (Gene) of Georgetown and Betty Roberts of Georgetown; one brother, Joe Jacobs of Hemingway; a special friend, Ray Clement of Georgetown; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and special hunting friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille S. McKinney and Nellie Gibbs Billmyre; and three brothers, E.O. Jacobs, Floyd Jacobs and J.C. Jacobs.
Funeral Service will be held at 1PM Monday, December 26, 2011 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hucksfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
