James Howard "Jimmy" Smith, 84, husband of Lillie Vone Edge Smith, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on May 30, 1929, in White County, TN, he was a son of the late James Williard Smith and the late Ona Mae Black Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church, the Omar Shrine Temple and the Winyah Masonic Lodge #40 where he served as past master. He retired from International Paper Company after 32 years of service and was a member of the Pine Tree Club and the Quarter Century Club. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Jay C. Strickland (Sandra) of Pawleys Island and Patsy Shirer of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Chris Strickland, Jay C. Strickland, Jr., Jimmy Strickland, Nicole Poston and Elizabeth Shirer; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
