Obituary of Thomas B. Blake
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas “Tommy” B. Blake, III, 62, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at his home.
Born on August 13, 1952, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Thomas B. Blake, Jr. and the late Mary Frances Timmons Blake. He was a member of Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was the original owner and operator of the Blade and Barrel. Tommy was never one for hard, manual labor, but no one could have held a candle to his business sense. He was a great provider for his family and enjoyed the finer things in life. His love for Corvettes showed in the way of always owning one regardless of color, body style or year, his love for them held true.
Tommy was a diehard Gamecock fan and loved to pick on his Clemson friends relentlessly. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and most of all shooting pool. Tommy was also known for his love of gambling and would bet on anything including sports, cards, racing, pool, and any little wager with friends on anything that he thought might be fun. Tommy’s love for cooking showed with him cooking for family and friend get-togthers at every chance he got. Most of all if you were a friend, you were a friend for life and knew that Tommy loved you. Tommy enjoyed life most of all and lived it to the fullest.
Survivors include two daughters, Adrienne Blake (Billy Gardo) and Scarlett Gause (Jason); three grandchildren, Vivienne, Isadora “Izzy” and Jagger; one brother, Wayne Blake (Debbie); a niece, Jennifer Blake; a nephew, Ethan Blake; and a brother in law, Wendell Pope.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Blake Pope; and former wife, Penny Avant.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Screven Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Graham Funeral Home.
