Obituary of Velma Cook

Velma Frances Cannon Cook, 82, wife of Francis E. Cook, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on July 1, 1932, in Horry County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Norman Cannon and the late Thelma Owens Cannon. Mrs. Cook was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church where she was an honorary lifetime member and former moderator of the Presbyterian Church Women and a former coordinator of the “Happy Days” after school program. Mrs. Cook was a past president of the Georgetown Business and Professional Women and enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; three children, Thomas G. Cook (Pat), Norma Cook Grimes (Jack) and Billy Ray Cook (Terena) all of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Preston. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at Georgetown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stephen H. Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
