Obituary of Roy Fred Gertig

Roy Fred Gertig, 89, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his residence.
Born January 1, 1927, he was a son of the late Carl Alfred Gertig and the late Rose Gertig.
Mr. Gertig was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6444 and was a founder of the Elks lodge in Murrells Inlet. He was also a supporter of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Organization.
Surviving are two sons, Roy S. Gertig (Linda “K.T.”) of Bellevue, NE and Erich P. Gertig of Georgetown; one brother, Thomas Gertig (Heike) of Berlin, Germany; and five grandchildren, Erich, Scott, Amy, Steven, and Christopher.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Berth S. Gertig.
A visitation will be held April 5, 2016 from 6-8pm at Graham Funeral Home, 2200 S. Fraser Street. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
