Obituary of Nell A. Paschal

Nell Altman Paschal, 93, passed away April 17, 2016, at her home, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Paschal was born May 31, 1922, in Georgetown County, the daughter of the late Spencer Roosevelt Altman and Carrie Williams Altman. She was married to Dalton William Paschal on March 14, 1940.
Mrs. Paschal attended Union High School and was valedictorian and prom queen of the first graduating class of Pleasant Hill High School in 1939. She was a member of Screven Baptist Church and Deborah Sunday School Class. She worked at Belk and Woodland Division of IPCO.
Mrs. Paschal retired as secretary of Screven Baptist Church in 1987, after 30 years of dedicated service. During these years she served as Sunday school teacher, GA Leader, on the Financial and Pulpit Committees and had been Sunday School Secretary for the Child and Youth Department for many years.
Mrs. Paschal dearly loved her family, her church and truly believed in the power of prayer throughout her life. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. She influenced many lives with her courage and strength. Mrs. Paschal was selfless, nurturing and encouraged her family with love and wisdom. Her loving spirit will live in the hearts of those who knew her and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Paschal is survived by her husband; two daughters, Carolyn P. Saunders of Surfside Beach and Debra P. (Phillip) Tyson of DeBordieu; four grandchildren, Robert Dalton Saunders of Pawleys Island, Brian Paschal Saunders of Surfside Beach, Adam Spencer Tyson of Charleston, Chelsea Ellen Gibson of Richardson, Texas, one great granddaughter Lucy Knox Tyson and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Paschal was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Pauline Altman Green, Maude Altman Crosby and Frances Icilda Altman and two brothers, Kermit Dwight Altman and Spencer Bethel Altman.
Funeral services will be 3 P. M., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Screven Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Aubrey Floyd and Rev. R. Wayne Ellis. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 2 P.M., immediately preceding the service at the church.
