Obituary of Verdia B Jacobs

VERDIA B. JACOBS Verdia Alethea “Lisa” Baxley Jacobs, 85, of the Longs Community, went home to be with the Lord, on May 21, 2016, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, after an illness. Born in Kingstree, Williamsburg County, South Carolina, on July 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Vance Baxley and Verdia Ozela Davis. She was predeceased by her husband, James C. Jacobs, Sr., two brothers, Carlton Lander Baxley and Cecil Sherman Baxley, a grandson, Allen Terry Jacobs, Jr., and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Jacobs Townsend. She retired from Berry’s Seafood in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She loved to read, study history and work on family genealogy. She was devoted to her family and friends and happiest when doing for others. Her honesty, strength of character and positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed. Surviving are five sons, James Carlon Jacobs, Jr., (Bonnie) of Georgetown, Allen Terry Jacobs, Sr., Bobby Lee Jacobs, Sr., (Sheryl) and Clifford Ollie Jacobs (Susan), all of Georgia, and Steve Clarence Jacobs (Judy) of Fort White, Fla.; two daughters, Sandra J. McDowell (Harold) of Murrells Inlet, and Donna J. Lambert of Cherry Grove; one sister, Lynette Baxley Godwin of New Port, N.C.;15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday May 23, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hucksfield Cemetery off S.C. 261 in Georgetown. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.org.
