Joseph Laurie Hughes, 90, passed away September 10, 2016 at Tidelands Waccamaw Hospital.
Born June 17, 1926 in Johnsonville, South Carolina, he was a son of the lat3e Daniel Durant Hughes and the late Evelyn Dusenbury Hughes.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Hinson of Brunswick, GA; three sons, Joe L. Hughes, Jr. (Karen) of Greensboro, NC, Mark Hughes (Karen) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Gary Hughes (Susan); four grandchildren, Molly, Katie, Derrick, Nick; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lula Von Altman Hughes.
A private graveside funeral service was held at Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
