Obituary of Robert Thompkins

Robert Mitchell Thompkins, Sr., 74, husband of Marilyn Skipper Thompkins, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born on December 3, 1937, in Horry County, he was a son of the late James Mallie Thompkins and the late Addie Bell Turbeville Thompkins. Mr. Thompkins was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church, the men’s Brotherhood, the Son Shine Bible Class and served as a deacon for many years. He retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company after 39 years of service and was also a US Navy veteran. Mr. Thompkins was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years; three sons, Mitch Thompkins (Jamie), Greg Thompkins (Renee) and Kevin Thompkins (Denise) all of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Meredith, Mallory, Gregory, Nicholas, Karli, and Devin; one brother, Mayo Thompkins (Verna) of Galivants Ferry; one sister, Elnita Johnson of Aynor; one special brother in law and sister in law, McRoy and Jo Skipper; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Thompkins.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Themos Cribb officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Ringel Heights Baptist Church.
