Obituary of Edward Shawn James, Sr.

Edward Shawn James, Sr., 66, husband of Cheryl Ann Baxley James, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2PM in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mr. James was born on October 30, 1954 in Conway, SC to the late Joseph Edward James and the late Flora Mae Martin James. Mr. James was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and an avid hunter and houndsman. He retired from IMS where he worked as a heavy machinery mechanic. Mr. James was a beloved baseball coach for years in Georgetown and shaped the lives of many of the young people he coached. His greatest passion was watching his grandchildren play ball. He was adored by his family and his community and will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by two sons, Edward Shawn James, Jr. (Melissa) of Georgetown and Garrett Carlton James (Maribel) of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Anna James, Pierce James, Gavin Joseph James, Garrison Edward James; two sisters, Beth McKenzie (Bobby) of Middleburg, FL, Sonya James of Andrews; one life brother, Billy Sports (Marsha) of Georgetown and a brother of Irmo; a number of nieces and nephews.
