Obituary of Joseph Allen Carl

Joseph Allen Carl, 55, passed away on August 4, 2021 at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 2PM at Screven Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 6-8PM at Screven Baptist Church. Allen was born in Georgetown, South Carolina on April 13, 1966 to Joseph Carl and Alice Faye Harrelson Carl. He was a Winyah High School graduate and a member of Screven Baptist Church. Allen was a man of many talents and excelled as a Touring Professional Skier, Commercial Fisherman, U.S. Merchant Marine 100 Ton Certified Captain, Barber, and as a Building Inspector for Georgetown County. He was a man of great faith who gave his all to his church family by serving not only as a deacon but also on the building committee, property committee, and the men’s fellowship class. Allen loved the outdoors, hunting, and being out on the Bay but above all he treasured his family. His children were his world. Allen was a selfless man who would do anything for someone in need with kindness and compassion and the world is a little dimmer without him here. We will all miss him dearly. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Leslie Vinson Carl; his daughter, Kathleen “KayKay” Carl; his son; John Allen Carl; two brothers, Stevie Carl (Lisa) of Georgetown and Matthew Carl (Shay) of Florence; three nephews, Tyler Carl, Leland Carl, and Elisha Carl.
