Helen "Eleni" Moomjian, 85, wife of Richard Haig Moomjian, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at her daughter, Claire's home after an extended hospital stay
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 6PM at Graham Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 5PM.
Helen "Eleni" was born in New York, New York on May 5, 1936 to the late Vasili Milonas and the late Anastasia Kalfaoglou Milonas. She graduated from Bayside High and attended Queens College. She graduated from the University of California - Riverside. Eleni was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and was an artist who enjoyed pastel pencil drawing walking on the beach, gardening and flowers She was full of life with a tremendous sense of humor, loved to laugh and enjoyed listening to music especially Broadway show tunes, classical and music of the 50s. She loved birds and taking walks to feed the ducks. Her vibrant personality and love of life will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 63 years, are three daughters, Claire D. Moomjian of Georgetown, Teresa Nagel (Bill) of Marietta, GA, Deanna Moomjian-Gjovik (John) of Naselle, WA; five grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; two sisters, Calliope Issackedes of New Jersey and Katina Nineve (Carl) of Holbrook, NY; and two sisters-in-law, Margie Milonas of Wilmington, NC and Carol Horn from Massapequa, NY. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Noumi Milonas.
