Obituary of Anne Richie Salley

Anne Richie Salley, 55, wife of J. Alexander Salley, Jr., passed away at MUSC on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.   A memorial service will be held at Winyah Auditorium on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 4PM.   Anne was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 20, 1966 to James Dare Richie and the late Rosann Gray Bateman.  She was a Winyah Academy graduate and long-time fitness instructor  and personal trainer at the local YMCA.  Anne was a pillar of the community and was known for greeting everyone with her bubbly personality, big smile, and beautiful laugh.  She was the Marketing Director at Smith Medical Clinic where she gave endlessly of herself to promote their mission of providing complete medical care to the uninsured residents in Georgetown County. To know Anne was to be unconditionally loved and accepted by her. Her energy and love of life was contagious.  Anne was a mentor, friend, fitness partner, and a shining light to so many. Georgetown is a little darker today without her.  Rest easy Anne, you fought with a strength and determination that inspired us all and we will honor your legacy by smiling a little brighter, laughing a little louder, and helping those in need.  You will be forever missed.   Anne is survived by her loving husband of 25 years; her beloved sons,  Joshua Morris Parker and his fiancé, Taylor Jessica Callinan and Julian Alexander Salley III “Trey”; one sister, Jennifer Richie of Georgetown; one stepsister, Tiffany Bateman Osborne of Telluride, Colorado; her mother-in-law, Kathryn Wallace Salley of Columbia; her father and her stepmother, Marissa Richie of Aylett, Virginia; two brother-in-law, Charles Wallace Salley and his wife Susan of Columbia and Mark Hedrick Salley and his wife Jane of Columbia; a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family; and numerous wonderful friends that Anne held so dear. Anne was preceded in death by her mother; stepfather, John Bateman; and father-in-law, Dr. Julian Salley.   Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.org.
