Obituary of Ivan Rhett Holden, Sr.

Ivan Rhett Holden, Sr., 79, husband of Ann Causey Holden, passed away in his home Monday January 16, 2022. Mr. Holden was born May 27, 1943 in Mullins, a son of the late Fred Myers Holden and the late Florence Oneita Williams Holden. He was a graduate of Conway High School and attended Coastal Carolina University before joining the United States Army and then onto the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Holden worked at International Paper before switching careers to law enforcement. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources after many years of service. After his retirement from DNR, Mr. Holden also worked locally for the Georgetown County Sheriffs Department. He was a master mason and a member of Winyah #40, AFM as well as the York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies. In his spare time, Mr. Holden enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed fellowship and cooking with his friends and family. Along with his wife of 56 years, he is survived by one son, Ivan Rhett “Gator” Holden, Jr. of Georgetown as well as extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alvan Ryan Holden. In keeping with Mr. Holden’s wishes, no services are planned.
