Obituary of Blanche Hutchinson

Blanche Elizabeth Gaskins Hutchinson, 94 widow of Leroy Hutchinson, died Friday, December 7, 2012 at The Lakes at Litchfield in Pawley’s Island, SC. Born on December 16, 1917 in the Hannah Community of Florence County, she was the daughter of Ringold Gaskins and Addie White Gaskins. She graduated from Hannah High School and was a retired employee of Belk Department Stores. Blanche and Leroy were married for 67 years when he died in 2003 and had lived in Georgetown, SC for over 70 years.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Herman T. Gaskins of Pamplico, SC and C. R. Gaskins of Georgetown, SC.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown. She served as a Sunday School teacher in the primary department for many years and was a member of the Platt Sunday School Class. She, along with her husband Leroy, served on the Church’s Kitchen Committee for many years and they enjoyed travelling with the "Young as Ever" church group to various states as well as other countries during their retirement.
Surviving children include L.B. Hutchinson (Blinda) of Georgetown; Tony Hutchinson (Aileen) of McClellanville; James Hutchinson (Nellie) of Oak Harbor, Washington; and, Cheryl H. Morris (Burness) of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Mike Hutchinson (Stephanie) of Pawleys Island, SC; Angela H. Elliott of Charleston, SC; Amy H. King (Rob) of Fort Mill, SC; and two step children in Washington State.
Mrs. Hutchinson had several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She also had numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the 11:00 a.m. service. Officiating the service will be Dr. Ted Sherrill. Burial will be at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown following the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit of The Lakes at Litchfield retirement complex at Pawley’s Island, the caring staff at Morningside Assisted Living in Georgetown and the caring staff of Regency Hospice.
