Obituary of Jay Stephen DuBose
Jay Stephen DuBose, age 65, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Clemson Downs in Clemson, SC.
Mr. DuBose was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 28, 1952, a son of the late Dr. Joseph Palmer, Jr. and Sybil McMillan DuBose. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant siblings.
Mr. DuBose earned a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry from Auburn University and a Master of Science degree in wildlife biology from Mississippi State University. He worked in the Woodlands Division of International Paper Company until early retirement, and then he became an environmental auditor and a private consultant in land management. Mr. DuBose was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in nature hunting and fishing, as well as sharing entertaining stories of his adventures with friends and family. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown.
Mr. DuBose is survived by his wife of 44 years; Virginia (Ginny) Riley DuBose; his children, Stephen Elliott DuBose (Christine) of Johns Island, Kristin Adair DuBose of Easley; two grandchildren, Elliott Adair DuBose of Johns Island, Sullivan Wright DuBose of Johns Island; and two brothers, Joseph Daniel DuBose (Mary) of Rowlett, Texas; and Jonathan Palmer DuBose (Vickie) of Pensacola, Florida.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown. A funeral service, officiated by the Reverend Ted Sherrill, will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Georgetown, with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery.
