Josephine De Baca "Miss Josie" Harter, 88, widow of James Edward Harter, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 28, 1924, in Glade, WV, she was the daughter of the late William W. Whetzel and the late Leona Mae Fields Whetzel. Mrs. Harter was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist, the Bible Sunday School Class and WMU. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army Home League Church and retired from Rion’s Shoe Store after 20 years of service.
Survivors include one son, Paul W. De Baca (Janis) of Aurora, Colorado; three grandchildren, Troy De Baca, Michael De Baca and Tracy De Baca Halloran; a daughter in law, Diane De Baca of Andrews; an adopted son and daughter, Terry and Amy Skidmore; and three adopted grandchildren, Allison and Houston Skidmore and Mark Elliott
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert G. De Baca; and a son, Albert G. De Baca, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Johnson and Rev. Themos Cribb officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
